NEOOUG Officers Information

Officers & Responsibilties
NEOOUG is administered by the following elected officers with these key responsibilities:

  • President
    The President shall be the Chief Executive Officer and shall have general supervision over the affairs of NEOOUG. The President shall preside at all meetings of NEOOUG and the Officer Committee. The President may appoint, with the consent of the Officer Committee, standing committees, task forces and their respective chairpersons. The President shall be an exofficio member of all committees and shall perform all the duties incident to the office of Chief Executive Officer of a corporation, and such other duties as may be prescribed from time to time by the Officer Committee. The President shall serve as liaison to the International Oracle Users Group and all outside groups. The president is one of the 4 valid signatures on the NEOOUG checking account.

  • Vice President
    In the absence of the President or in the event of his or her inability or refusal to act, the Vice President shall perform the duties of the President, and when so acting, shall have all the powers of and be subject to all the restrictions upon the President. The Vice President shall perform such other duties as from time to time may be assigned by the President or by the Officer Committee. The vice president is one of the 4 valid signatures on the NEOOUG checking account.

  • Vice President of Vendor Relations
    This role was created with the intent to give our vendors a single point of contact to establish good long lasting relationships with NEOOUG. We can draw from the pool of vendors for talks that coincide with the general meeting format and content. The VP of Vendors will also be responsible for a column in the NEOOUG newsletter.

  • Vice President of of Database Technologies
    This role was created to ensure that our group has someone who is on top of the database technology community. This role gives a specific emphasis on the Oracle Database and the DBAs who establish and maintain them. This person will be responsible for assisting the meeting coordinator to ensure that there will be a quality speaker for the NEOOUG meetings. The VP of Database Technologies will also be responsible for a database technologies column in the NEOOUG newsletter. This role reports to the President and works with the entire group to provide ideas and information.

  • Vice President of Development Technologies
    This role was created to ensure that our group has someone who is on top of the development technology community. This role gives a specific emphasis on Oracle and the people who use related development tools. This person will be responsible for assisting the meeting coordinator to ensure there will be a quality speaker for the NEOOUG meetings. The VP of Development Technologies will also be responsible for a development technologies column in the NEOOUG newsletter. This role reports to the President and works with the entire group to provide ideas and information.

  • Secretary
    • Scribe general and officers meeting minutes
    • Maintain all NEOOUG records
    • Report official meeting minutes at each meeting.
    • One of the 4 valid signatures on the NEOOUG banking accounts.

  • Treasurer
    • Serves as the Chief Financial Officer of NEOOUG and shall have charge and custody of and be responsible for all funds and securities of NEOOUG
    • Shall receive and give receipts for monies due and payable to NEOOUG from any sources whatsoever
    • Shall deposit all such monies in the name of NEOOUG in such banks, trust companies, or other depositories as shall be selected in accordance with the provisions of these bylaws
    • Shall develop financial plans and budgets
    • Shall submit financial reports to the Officer Committee at its regular meetings and to the membership at the Annual Meeting
    • Shall perform all duties incident to the office of Vice President of Finance and such other duties as from time to time may be assigned by
      the President or by the Officer Committee.
    • One of the 4 valid signatures on the NEOOUG checking account.
    • The Treasurer shall create all bank accounts in such a way that it will require two (2) officers' signatures to authorize removal of funds from
      that account. No withdrawal vehicle such as an ATM card shall be created which can authorize transaction by only one person.
    • The Treasurer shall file the NEOOUG tax return when required by law.

  • Membership Coordinator
    • Process new and renewal membership
    • Administer annual member survey.
    • Maintain and update membership list
    • Handle communications with the membership

  • Special Events Coordinatorr
    • Oversight of all event planning activities including finance, sponsorship, venues, and event promotion
    • Securing speakers and negociating fees and expenses
    • Monitoring event registration
    • Managing day of event operations

  • Webmaster
    Develop, design and maintain the NEOOUG web site.

  • Assistant Webmaster
    Develop, design and maintain the NEOOUG web site.

  • Newsletter Editor
    Compile a newsletter and publish it electronically prior to the each business meeting and/or event.

Email ALL Officers

Elections & Terms All Officers are elected to 1 year terms of service. Candidates for each office are nominated at the fall meeting and elections are held at the first meeting of the new year. Elected officers take office at the close of the election meeting.

BIO:  A Northeast Ohio native and Kent State University graduate with a BS with honors in computer science. Has over a decade of experience working with the Oracle Database and Oracle Application Server products. Accomplished application developer incorporating data persisted in Oracle with various application development technologies including: Visual Basic, Java, and J2EE. Enjoyed a wonderful ten year stint working for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company at their Akron Technical Center. Currently employed as a technology consultant with Deloitte Consulting LLP working on an engagement with the U.S. DOD Defense Finance Accounting Service in Cleveland, OH.

Gerhardt "Gary" Martin

VICE PRESIDENT


BIO:  Eric earned Bachelors degree in Computer Science and a Masters degree in Computer Science from Brigham Young University where he studied database theory and Software Engineering principles. He has over 15 years of Oracle Experience. Eric has experience as an Oracle developer in PL/SQL and Proc*C, as a Database Administrator and Oracle Applications Administrator, and 6 years of experience as a Data Architect (some of this time designing Data Warehouse systems). Eric is currently working for Sherwin Williams as a Lead Database Administrator.

BIO: Greg has been working with Oracle since 1995. Currently he's with Deloitte Consulting LLP building solutions for DFAS. Lately he's been doing a lot of back end PL/SQL programming, system design, and SQL & PL/SQL tuning.

BIO:  Patty is an Ohio native. She has a BS in Computer Science from CSU. She works at Amtrust Bank as an Oracle Database Administrator. Patty has worked as a Oracle DBA since 1995. Amtrust Bank gives her the opportunity to work with cutting edge technology including 10g RAC Linux clusters, 9i RAC HP clusters and 10g Application Server. Her primary interest in database technology is data warehousing.

VICE PRESIDENT OF DEVELOPMENT TECHNOLOGY


BIO:  John graduated from KSU with a degree in math/computer science and later completed his MBA at Baldwin-Wallace. Currently employed as a Senior Oracle DBA at Summit Racing Equipment John has 10 years of Oracle experience. Some of John stronger skills include relational modeling, performance tuning, application migration, and backup/recovery. Specific strengths within the Oracle environment include RAC, EMC Symmetrix, Solaris, and HPUX. In a prior parallel universe John spent many years doing system programming and database administration in large scale IBM mainframe environments.

BIO: Sean is an Ohio native, born and raised in Cleveland. Sean started his IT career 8 years ago at Cleveland State University as a student computer technician while earning his Bachelors in Computer Engineering. He moved into a full-time position managing the student technicians and administrating the University's Window's servers while working on his next degree, a Masters in Software Engineering. Currently he is employed at Cleveland State University as a Systems Administrator who is responsible for the maintenance and upgrades of the PeopleSoft and Oracle environments. Although fairly new to the Oracle world Sean is experienced with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Oracle 9i and 10g, Solaris 10 and AIX platforms. While working as a System Administrator he has finished his Masters in Software Engineering degree and is just about halfway through earning his MBA.

BIO:  Paul started working with Oracle when it was version 3 (can anyone guess how long ago that was - see the end for the answer)? As an aside, Paul indicated at that time that there were only two licensed Oracle sites in all of Ohio. Paul has over 18 years of experience working with Oracle and works as an Oracle DBA at AmTrust Bank.

BIO:  Rumpi Gravenstein has been working with Oracle continuously since 1987, focusing on providing consulting services in the Oracle technologies. He has given numerous technical presentations at Oracle conferences covering topics such as security, application design, PL/SQL development, ANSI SQL, and data loading. Rumpi is currently working for AmTrust Bank as a lead developer.

BIO:  Gary has done almost everything you can do in the IT field. He was even there at the birth of the PC revolution (anybody remember the IBM codenames popcorn "The PC" and peanut "The PC Junior"?). Gary has done Systems Support, Technical Support, Database Support, and development work in everything from Mainframes to Micros. He currently works in the Global Data Management and Collaboration Team at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. as an Oracle DBA, Linux Systems Admin, HTTP Server/LDAP Admin, and Web CGI/DHTML developer. Like Paul Healy, Gary started working with Oracle way back at version 3

BIO:  Pete is originally from Rochester, NY and has bachelor degrees in Mathematics (Baldwin-Wallace College) and Music (Cleveland Institute of Music). He has worked with Oracle Technologies for the past 10 years, and is currently a Senior Database Administrator at AmTrust Bank. Pete's interests include Real Application Clusters (RAC), Oracle Application Server infrastructure and Oracle e-Business Suite.
